Léah Anglès

COUNTRY: France

REGION: Pyrenees

Léah Anglès is a rising star in the wine world, bringing a unique blend of cultural heritage and modern winemaking expertise to her craft. A Malagasy native with a chemistry degree, Léah honed her skills through internships in Hawke’s Bay and Bordeaux before a five-year apprenticeship under Philippe Gard at Coume del Mas. In 2018, she made her first wine while working at Domaine de la Coume, and in 2022, she established her own domaine, farming 5.5 hectares of old vine Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan on the steep, schist-laden slopes of Collioure, overlooking the Mediterranean.

Léah’s approach combines tradition and innovation. Her vineyards are farmed entirely by hand, with organic treatments such as essential oils, copper, and manure. In the cellar, she emphasizes precision and purity, using wild yeasts, stainless steel, fiber vats, and old barrels to craft wines that balance the power and fruit intensity of the region with a freshness and salinity reflective of her contemporary style. Her four wines—Divay, Opa, L'Éléphant Blanc, and Pilgrim—celebrate her family’s Malagasy and Catalan roots while honoring the identity of the terroir. Acclaimed at events like Sud de France, where her wines shone among hundreds of entries, Léah Anglès exemplifies the art of honoring tradition while forging a new path in winemaking.
